Position Summary
Responsible for the end-to-end design, development, validation, timing, and production release of body-closure systems, including hoods, doors, liftgates, fenders, sheet metal sub-assemblies, hinges, latches, and sealing systems.
Key Responsibilities
System Release: Lead the engineering design, packaging, and release of closure structures, moving panels, and operating mechanisms.
Clearance Management: Coordinate system packaging and clearance requirements with Electrical, Lighting, Exterior Trim, and Interior Engineering.
Structural Analysis: Collaborate with CAE groups to satisfy modal stiffness, crashworthiness, durability, and operational targets.
Manufacturing Feasibility: Ensure full component manufacturability across stamping feasibility, weld access, hem lines, and assembly plant processing.
Quality & Lifecycle: Manage DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, CAD models, eBOMs, release milestones, supplier interactions, prototype builds, and assembly plant quality resolutions.
Profil
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in Body-in-White (BIW), closures, or exterior vehicle systems.
CAD/PLM: Expert proficiency in Siemens NX or CATIA V5, alongside Teamcenter PLM.
Domain Knowledge: Deep knowledge of high-strength steels, aluminum stamping, welding technologies, GD&T, DFMEA, and DVP&R.
Certifications: DFSS Green Belt or Black Belt certification is strongly preferred.
