Department: Electrical Wiring & Harness Systems (EEHD) – North America
Employment Type: Full Time
Travel Requirements: Up to 50% (travel to assembly plants, supplier facilities, proving grounds, laboratories, and dealerships)
Position Summary
The Wiring Harness Engineering Specialist for the Warranty Acceleration Team (WAT) is responsible for rapidly identifying, investigating, and resolving customer warranty issues affecting electrical distribution systems across North America.
This position will lead technical investigations from initial warranty claim analysis through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Interim Corrective Action (ICA), and Permanent Corrective Action (PCA) implementation. The successful candidate will work directly with assembly plants, supplier manufacturing locations, quality organizations, field engineers, and product development teams to accelerate issue resolution and improve customer satisfaction.
The role requires a highly motivated engineer capable of working independently in fast-paced environments while driving cross-functional teams toward timely corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
Issue Investigation: Investigate customer warranty concerns involving electrical distribution systems, wiring harnesses, connectors, terminals, grounding systems, sensors, actuators, and power distribution components.
Trend Analysis: Analyze warranty claims, field reports, dealer feedback, and engineering test results to identify emerging quality trends.
Root Cause & Correction: Develop technically sound Root Cause Analysis (RCA) statements supported by engineering data and evidence. Lead the development and implementation of Interim Corrective Actions (ICA) and Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA).
Documentation & Tracking: Create and manage quality tracking strategies, issue logs, and technical documentation supporting issue resolution.
Hands-on Analysis: Conduct vehicle inspections, teardown analysis, root cause testing, and validation activities. Perform on-site investigations and lead GEMBA walks focused on defect detection, containment, and corrective action verification.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Vehicle Validation, Service Engineering, and Warranty teams.
Continuous Improvement: Support warranty reduction initiatives and meet performance objectives such as Time-to-Fix (TTF) and early life cycle quality metrics (1MIS/3MIS). Identify lessons learned and drive implementation into future vehicle programs and engineering standards.
Modern Engineering Tools: Utilize data analytics and AI tools to accelerate issue investigation, trend identification, and prepare technical presentations for executive leadership review.
