Misiune

We are seeking a motivated, self-starting Valvetrain & Timing Drive Design Release Engineer to lead the development of critical valvetrain and timing drive components for gasoline engines, including advanced cylinder deactivation hardware and controls.

In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of component development—from design and testing to manufacturing interface and failure analysis. Operating in a fast-paced environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization (including Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Engine Plants, Design, and Parts & Service) and partner with external suppliers to solve complex problems, reduce costs, and drive product improvements.

Essential Functions

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a core engineering team member, managing multiple priorities while balancing inputs from a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Technical Problem Solving: Resolve complex technical issues utilizing rigorous engineering analysis for components such as camshafts, camshaft phasers, rocker arms, valves, valve seats/guides, valve springs, timing chains, guides, and tensioners.

  • Validation & Testing: Plan, coordinate, and monitor test execution using core engineering tools, including DFMEAs and DVP&Rs.

  • Data Analysis: Analyze test and measurement data to synthesize data-based conclusions, author summaries, and present actionable recommendations to the broader team.

  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Interact daily with Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Engine Plants, Design Groups, and Parts & Service. Note: Some travel to engine plants and suppliers is required.

Profil

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the design and manufacturing of powertrain components.

  • Technical Knowledge: * Deep understanding of valvetrain/timing drive components and related manufacturing processes (e.g., steel stamping, machining, grinding, heat treatment).

    • Proficiency with product development documentation, specifically DFMEA and DVP&R.

    • Strong grasp of Mechanics of Materials, engine cam timing, CAE Analysis, and GD&T.

    • Demonstrated understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of complex mechanical systems.

  • Skills: * Proven ability to select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for mechanical components.

    • Ability to author clear system- and component-level requirements.

    • Strong project management, interpersonal, leadership, and oral/written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Direct, hands-on experience with valvetrain or timing drive systems.

  • Proven track record in the creation and execution of robust validation plans.

  • Working proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably Siemens NX.

  • Key Soft Skills: Action-oriented, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, strong customer focus, and an exceptional problem-solver.
