Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mid-Level Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Chassis Powertrain Mounts to own the design, validation, integration, and engineering release of vehicle powertrain isolation systems. In this role, you will lead the development of engine, transmission, and e-drive mounting systems (elastomeric, hydraulic, and structural brackets) to optimize vehicle NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), durability, and dynamic performance.
This position operates under a remote modality within Mexico but requires active on-site presence at manufacturing facilities and technical centers in Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe (CDMX) to support launch builds, physical testing, supplier alignment, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Product Engineering & Release: Lead the full lifecycle ownership (concept through production release) of powertrain mount assemblies, structural brackets, and isolation components in PLM/BOM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia).
System Design & Optimization: Define dynamic stiffness, damping targets, packaging clearances, and structural integrity for powertrain mounts, balancing NVH characteristics, durability, and mass/cost constraints.
Supplier Management: Direct Tier-1 suppliers through component design reviews, tooling timelines, prototype deliveries, and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) milestones.
Validation & DVP&R Execution: Author, track, and execute Design Verification Plans & Reports (DVP&R), evaluating physical rig testing, multi-axis shaker testing, and vehicle-level durability/NVH results.
On-Site Plant & Launch Support: Provide hands-on engineering support at assembly plants in Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe during pre-production builds and trial runs to address build issues, clearance concerns, and torque-tooling interfaces.
Problem Solving & Quality Improvement: Lead cross-functional root cause investigations (8D, DFMEA, Fishbone) for plant build issues, supplier quality defects, or field warranty claims.
Perfil
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in automotive product development, specifically working on powertrain mounts, chassis rubber-metal components, or powertrain isolation systems.
Technical Mastery:
Proficiency in 3D CAD platforms (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX) and product data management systems.
Solid understanding of vehicle dynamics, powertrain roll modes, elastomer/hydraulic damping behavior, and mechanical fatigue.
Advanced application of GD&T, stack-up analysis, DFMEA, and manufacturing processes (aluminum casting, stamping, vulcanization).
Language Skills: Full business fluency in Spanish and advanced professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel up to 25–30% to Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe (CDMX) based on program milestones and manufacturing builds.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with electric vehicle (EV) e-drive/e-motor mounting systems or high-torque application mounting solutions.
Familiarity with FEA/CAE dynamic simulation interpretation (ANSYS, ABAQUS, or Adams/Engine).
Direct experience working in assembly plant environments during new product launches in Mexico.
