Company Description
We are supporting a major construction and infrastructure project in the UAE and are looking for an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join the project controls team.
Job Description
The Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining and controlling integrated project schedules to support successful project delivery within approved contractual milestones.
The role requires advanced Primavera P6 capability combined with strong construction planning, progress monitoring, delay analysis and contractual planning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and update integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Prepare baseline schedules, detailed execution programmes, procurement schedules, engineering schedules and resource-loaded schedules.
- Prepare recovery plans and revised programmes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Establish and maintain Work Breakdown Structures, activity coding structures, project calendars, milestones, constraints and schedule logic.
- Monitor engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning progress.
- Collect, validate and analyse project progress data.
- Perform critical path analysis, float analysis, schedule variance analysis and productivity assessments.
- Conduct Time Impact Analysis (TIA).
- Perform what-if scenario modelling and recovery planning.
- Evaluate schedule impacts caused by project changes, variations and unforeseen events.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly planning reports.
- Produce look-ahead schedules, progress dashboards, S-curves, earned value reports and KPI reports.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial teams, subcontractors and clients.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier schedules against the master programme.
- Identify interface risks and monitor compliance with contractual milestones.
- Support commercial and contract management teams with Extension of Time (EOT) claims.
- Support delay analysis, disruption claims and forensic schedule analysis.
- Participate in project coordination meetings, progress meetings, risk workshops and client presentations.
- Identify schedule risks and opportunities and develop mitigation measures.
- Monitor project productivity, resource allocation, equipment utilization and construction sequencing.
- Maintain complete planning documentation, schedule narratives, assumptions and programme revisions.
- Support tender and bid preparation by developing preliminary programmes and execution strategies where required.
- Mentor Planning Engineers and Junior Planning Engineers.
Perfil
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8–12 years of planning experience within large-scale infrastructure, railway, transportation, civil engineering or construction projects.
- Proven advanced experience using Primavera P6.
- Strong knowledge of CPM scheduling methodology.
- Strong understanding of resource planning, cost control and project controls.
- Experience in delay analysis, EOT preparation and Time Impact Analysis.
- Good understanding of FIDIC contracts and project management principles.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Power BI and other project control tools are advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight project deadlines.
