Company Description
We are supporting a major railway and infrastructure project in the UAE and are looking for an experienced Deputy Plant Manager – Railway to join the project team in Abu Dhabi.
Job Description
The Deputy Plant Manager will support the Plant Manager in managing the project's construction plant, heavy equipment, machinery, maintenance activities and equipment logistics.
The position will be responsible for maximizing equipment availability and reliability while maintaining high standards of safety, operational efficiency and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Plant Manager in the overall management of the project plant and equipment fleet.
- Plan and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimize downtime.
- Supervise maintenance teams, mechanics, technicians and plant operators.
- Coordinate the mobilization, allocation and demobilization of plant and equipment according to project requirements.
- Monitor equipment utilization, productivity, fuel consumption and operating costs.
- Manage spare parts, tools, consumables and workshop requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers and subcontractors for maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain accurate equipment records, maintenance history and certification.
- Ensure all plant and equipment comply with UAE regulations, project requirements and HSE standards.
- Monitor equipment inspections, testing, certification and statutory requirements.
- Support procurement and sourcing of spare parts and equipment.
- Prepare plant performance reports and KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce operating costs.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
- Ensure proper implementation of Plant Management / Asset Management systems.
- Coordinate with Construction, Trackwork, HSE, Planning and Project Management teams.
- Deputize for the Plant Manager when required.
Perfil
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- 8–12+ years of experience in plant/equipment management, preferably within railway or major infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing heavy construction and railway equipment.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and fleet management.
- Experience managing technical teams and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of SAP, Maximo or other asset/fleet management systems is an advantage.
- Strong HSE awareness.
- GCC/UAE experience is highly desirable.
