Automotive Diagnostic Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Automotive Diagnostic Engineer with specialized expertise in Vector tools to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex vehicle systems, focusing on engine, transmission, and network communication issues using advanced diagnostic tools. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of automotive electronics, CAN bus systems, and ECU failures, contributing to our commitment to providing high-quality service and repairs.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: 

 

  • Perform comprehensive diagnostics on vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, and in-vehicle network issues using Vector tools.
  • Utilize Vector software and hardware (CANalyzer, CANoe, etc.) to troubleshoot communication faults, sensor issues, and ECU failures in modern vehicles.
  • Analyze CAN bus and other network communications to identify faults and implement necessary repairs.
  • Interpret diagnostic codes, wiring diagrams, and service manuals to effectively diagnose and repair faults.
  • Document all diagnostic procedures, repairs, and software updates accurately, ensuring proper service records.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and service advisors to communicate findings, recommend repairs, and ensure timely solutions.
  • Stay current with updates on automotive diagnostic technologies and techniques, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of vehicle repairs.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. and/or M.Sc. in Electrical engineer, computer science or equivalent
  • Experience as an Automotive Engineer, specializing in vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Strong proficiency with Vector tools, such as CANalyzer, CANoe, and related diagnostic software.
  • In-depth understanding of automotive electronic systems, sensors, and vehicle network communications (CAN, LIN, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with ECU diagnostics, programming, and reprogramming.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and service manuals.
  • ASE certifications or equivalent automotive credentials are meritorious.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Swedish language skills are highly meritorious!
