Packaging & Labeling Engineer - Aftersales

Job Description

  • Oversee the development, standardization, review, and approval of packaging and labeling specifications for aftersales parts and accessories.

  • Establish robust packaging governance while optimizing packaging cost, performance, and material efficiency.

  • Ensure right-sized and cost-effective packaging solutions, avoiding unnecessary packaging for parts that do not require it (e.g. body panels).

  • Review and approve Packaging Specifications Sheets (PSS) in line with defined packaging standards.

  • Classify packaging by level (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary) and style (Premium High, Premium Low, Normal) for retail and non-retail requirements.

  • Validate supplier-provided packaging specifications, including cartons, cushioning materials, plastic wraps, adhesives, rubber components, and protective bags.

  • Develop compliant and cost-efficient packaging solutions for internally manufactured parts, including BIW and large body components.

  • Support definition of packaging requirements for both supplier-delivered and internally manufactured parts.

  • Ensure packaging alignment with warehousing, transportation, and aftersales service requirements to minimize damage, returns, and rework.

  • Review, update, and enhance packaging and labeling handbooks in line with regulatory and compliance requirements.

  • Define and support security labeling specifications to prevent grey market activity and support traceability.

  • Standardize labeling formats for Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers based on packaging level and product type.

  • Support returnable packaging concepts for large body parts and BIW components, including documentation of standards and packaging flows.

  • Validate and maintain packaging specifications within a centralized Packaging Portal, ensuring version control and traceability.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in packaging specification development, review, and approval.

  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, protection methods, and cost optimization principles.

  • Experience with Packaging Specifications Sheets (PSS) and packaging governance processes.

  • Understanding of packaging classification by level and application (retail and non-retail).

  • Knowledge of labeling standards, traceability requirements, and anti-counterfeiting practices.

  • Ability to evaluate and validate supplier packaging and labeling specifications.

  • Experience supporting returnable packaging concepts for large or complex components.

  • Familiarity with warehousing, logistics, and transportation requirements related to packaging.
