Controls Lead

Job Description

  1. Contract Resource Pursuit:
    • Identify and pursue contract resources, including vendors, suppliers, and contractors, to support controls, automation, and robotics projects.
    • Evaluate and negotiate contracts to ensure alignment with project requirements and organizational objectives.
  2. Development and Implementation of VPE Controls Standards:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement VPE Controls, Automation, Robotics, and Engineering standards and specifications.
    • Ensure adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements in controls and automation systems.
  3. Support in Design and Launch Phase:
    • Provide technical expertise and support during the design and launch phase of new products, focusing on controls, automation, and robotics integration.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize controls systems for efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  4. Supervision and Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor SBU controls engineers and controls coordinators, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project execution.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging continuous learning and development among team members.
  5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and industry guidelines in controls, automation, and robotics projects.
    • Conduct regular audits and reviews to assess project progress and identify areas for improvement.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate documentation of controls, automation, and robotics projects, including specifications, designs, test plans, and reports.
    • Prepare and present project status updates, performance metrics, and key insights to stakeholders and senior management.
  7. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization in controls, automation, and robotics systems.
    • Implement best practices, tools, and technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity in project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in controls, automation, robotics, or related field, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Proven track record in pursuing and managing contract resources for controls, automation, and robotics projects.
  • Strong understanding of VPE Controls, Automation, Robotics, and Engineering standards and specifications.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to supervise and mentor a team of controls engineers and coordinators.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and meet deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of controls systems, PLC programming, HMI design, and robotics integration.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes, safety regulations, and industry standards in automotive controls and automation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Continuous learning mindset, with a passion for staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in controls, automation, and robotics.
