Feasibility Engineer

Job Description

  1. Conduct comprehensive product assessments to evaluate design feasibility and manufacturability within automotive manufacturing processes.
  2. Collaborate closely with Product Engineering and Manufacturing teams to facilitate the exchange of information regarding product specifications and tooling requirements.
  3. Validate product interface with tooling systems to ensure seamless integration and compatibility during the manufacturing process.
  4. Analyze potential areas for improvement and make recommendations for Design to Manufacturing (DtM) changes to enhance product manufacturability and efficiency.
  5. Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement recommended changes and ensure alignment between product design and manufacturing processes.
  6. Utilize engineering principles and tools to assess the impact of proposed changes on product performance, quality, and cost.
  7. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
  8. Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to gather input and incorporate best practices into product feasibility assessments.
  9. Document findings, recommendations, and decision rationale for future reference and continuous improvement efforts.
  10. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to product design and manufacturing feasibility.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on product assessment and feasibility within the automotive industry.
  3. Proven ability to facilitate communication and collaboration between Product Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
  4. Strong understanding of tooling requirements and their interface with product design.
  5. Experience in making recommendations for Design to Manufacturing (DtM) changes to improve product manufacturability.
  6. Proficiency in engineering analysis tools and software.
  7. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  8. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
  9. Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  10. Continuous learning mindset and willingness to adapt to changing technologies and industry practices.
