Supplier Partner Development Engineer

Job Description

As a Supply Partner Development Engineer (SPDE), you will play a vital role in ensuring supply chain stability, quality, and performance by supporting underperforming suppliers with strategic technical assistance. You’ll be responsible for identifying systemic weaknesses within supplier operations—especially related to capacity constraints and unstable production systems—and driving improvement plans that ensure sustainable performance.

You will collaborate closely with supply chain, purchasing, engineering, and quality teams across North America and globally to ensure a resilient supplier base and uninterrupted production flow.

  • Drive and manage supplier performance with focus on quality, delivery, cost, and technical support.

  • Conduct detailed capacity assessments and evaluate supplier investment proposals

  • Identify performance gaps and implement sustainable corrective actions

  • Support delivery risk mitigation and crisis management efforts

  • Drive supplier accountability through structured improvement plans and direct feedback

  • Promote operational excellence and continuous improvement at supplier sites

  • Prioritize and escalate issues proactively to protect downstream operations

  • Ensure compliance with company processes, Code of Conduct, and best practices

  • Serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external suppliers

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in manufacturing environments and possess the technical and leadership capabilities needed to restore and elevate supplier performance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field

  • Proven experience in supplier development, manufacturing engineering, or supply chain quality

  • Strong background in capacity planning, supplier development, and production performance improvement 

  • Required industry experience: automotive, heavy equipment, or commercial vehicle manufacturing

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage complex supplier situations

  • Willingness to travel frequently and respond to supplier challenges on short notice
