My philosophy (in a few words)
I believe in staying curious and open to new ideas, as continuous learning is the foundation for growth. Listening carefully and managing knowledge effectively are essential to building meaningful connections. Life is like a thread, and I think it’s important to find yours and stay true to it.
My role at SEGULA
As a technical expert specializing in Computer Aided Engineering (CFD and FEM) and AI methods, I focus on innovation and problem-solving. My responsibilities also include managing knowledge and processes, as well as mentoring working students to foster collaboration and growth within our teams.
My training
I hold a diploma in physics and a PhD in fluid mechanics, which have been the backbone of my technical expertise. Over the years, I have complemented this foundation with certifications such as Six Sigma Green and Black Belt, as well as training in teaching skills to enhance my ability to mentor others effectively.
My professional experience
With over 20 years of diverse experience, I have worked on a range of projects, starting with research in microfluidics and advancing into automotive development, including CFD modeling of electrochemistry and external aerodynamics. My expertise has expanded to include virtual performance assessment, senior IT consulting for simulation and test data management, and applying AI methods in data analysis. Currently, I specialize in Computer Aided Engineering, AI methods, and process analysis, while also sharing my knowledge as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Applied Science Bingen. Additionally, I serve as a member of the scientific advisory board of the AZARE research cluster at Hochschule RheinMain.
My best project
One of my most memorable projects was validating the technical concept of a cryocompressed hydrogen tank through CAE simulation, which was both challenging and rewarding. Another significant highlight was contributing to the research project “Development Platform 4.0,” where we explored innovative approaches to improve development processes.
My passions
I am deeply passionate about physics and astronomy, as they constantly fuel my curiosity and love for discovery. I also enjoy the creative possibilities of 3D printing, which combines technology and art. Tai Chi helps me maintain balance and mindfulness, while spending time with my family remains my greatest source of happiness and inspiration.
My greatest dream
My greatest dream is to stand on the surface of the Moon and look back at Earth. It would be the ultimate blend of science and wonder, representing both human achievement and the beauty of our planet.
Essential skills or qualities for success
In my view, success in this field requires a strong foundation in mathematics and physics, coupled with a clear understanding of the fundamental principles behind a problem before tackling it. Persistence is crucial, whether it’s in solving complex equations or overcoming technical challenges, as each difficulty is an opportunity to learn. I also recommend exploring open-source tools, which not only offer flexibility but also provide a chance to deepen your understanding of the systems you work with.
Advice for young professionals
To young professionals aspiring to a similar career, I would say: never give up too early, and let your ideas speak for themselves, as managers appreciate innovation and determination. Always seek opportunities to improve your skills through training, and don’t hesitate to attend conferences to share your expertise and connect with people outside the company. Managing and sharing your knowledge will not only make you a valuable team member but also help you build a strong network of collaborators.
What I appreciate most about SEGULA
What I appreciate most about SEGULA is the open culture that encourages collaboration and innovation, as well as the opportunity to work in an international team. The diversity of interesting projects keeps me constantly challenged and motivated to grow.
