SEGULA Technologies is looking for a Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Interior Engineering – Consoles & Door Systems to support the engineering, design, development, validation, timing, and production release of interior vehicle components.
The Design Release Engineer will have end-to-end ownership of assigned components, ensuring they meet vehicle functional, quality, cost, weight, and timing objectives. The role will work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, manufacturing plants, and engineering stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, packaging, validation, and release of Console and Door System components.
- Manage component engineering activities from concept through production release.
- Create and execute Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and support component validation testing.
- Develop and maintain BOMs, CAD models, and engineering documentation in Teamcenter.
- Support prototype and production builds, including issue identification and resolution.
- Manage engineering changes and coordinate design updates with suppliers and internal teams.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of product, assembly, quality, and durability issues.
- Support vehicle assembly plants with technical issues and provide engineering support to service teams for field/warranty concerns.
- Identify opportunities for weight reduction, cost reduction, quality improvement, and design optimization.
- Communicate technical status, risks, timing, and open issues to engineering leadership and management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Suppliers, and Program Management.

Basic Qualifications:
- This position is located in Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA, and requires eligibility for a TN visa. Candidates must be Canadian citizens eligible to obtain TN status to work in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent, from an ABET-accredited or equivalent program.
- 1–3 years of engineering experience, preferably within the automotive OEM or supplier industry.
- Experience designing and developing automotive interior components, preferably including Door Systems, Door Trim, Center Consoles, Console Assemblies, or related interior components.
- Experience with injection-molded plastic components and interior trim.
- Knowledge of injection molding, painting, and decorating processes for plastic components.
- Experience with OEM or supplier design and release processes.
- Proficiency with NX, CATIA V5, and Teamcenter.
- Experience with DFMEA and DVP&R creation/execution.
- Experience supporting component builds, prototype builds, and production launches.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Business.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and presenting technical issues/recommendations to management.
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
- Experience with Reactive Shainin Problem Solving or similar structured problem-solving methodologies.
