Position Overview

We are seeking a Mid-Level Design & Release Engineer (DRE) specializing in Body Restraints to join our engineering team supporting the Body project. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and release of vehicle occupant restraint systems (e.g., seatbelts, airbags, mounting interface brackets) throughout the product development lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional OEM engineering teams, suppliers, quality, and manufacturing to ensure full compliance with structural, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Release Management: Lead the design, packaging, release, and engineering change management (DCN/ECN) for occupant restraint systems and related structural body attachments.

  • 3D CAD & Packaging Integration: Perform CAD modeling, packaging studies, and component clearance evaluations using standard OEM CAD tools (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA V5, or 3DEXPERIENCE).

  • Engineering Quality & Compliance: Define and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards, stack-up analyses, DFMEAs, and standard engineering documentation (BOMs).

  • Validation & Testing Support: Coordinate with CAE, virtual validation, and physical crash/safety testing teams to ensure components meet structural integrity and safety standards.

  • Supplier & Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the primary technical link between component suppliers, tooling/manufacturing engineering, quality teams, and OEM leadership to resolve shop-floor and packaging issues.

简介

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

  • Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Design & Release Engineer (DRE) or Product Engineer in an automotive OEM or Tier-1 environment.

  • Domain Knowledge: Proven background in Body-in-White (BIW), interior systems, or occupant restraint components (seatbelts, airbags, mounting hardware).

  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with 3D CAD platforms (Siemens NX, CATIA V5, or 3DEXPERIENCE) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

  • Engineering Standards: Deep understanding of GD&T, DFMEA, DFMA, BOM administration, and Design Change Control processes.

  • Languages: Business English proficiency (written and spoken) for daily collaboration with global cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Competencies

  • Occupant Safety & Restraints Expertise: Deep knowledge of airbag systems, seatbelts, anchorages, and crash/safety regulatory requirements.
  • 3D CAD & Packaging Integration: Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, clearance checks, and component packaging within the vehicle body architecture.
  • Engineering Change Control: Hands-on experience managing Design Change Notices (DCN/ECN), Bills of Materials (BOM), and revision tracking.
  • Tolerance & Quality Analysis: Expertise in applying GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, DFMEA, and DFMA principles to support robust manufacturing.
  • Cross-Functional & Supplier Management: Strong communication skills to coordinate technical deliverables across CAE, quality, manufacturing, and external Tier-1 suppliers.
  • Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Ability to systematically diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve shop-floor or design-validation fitment issues.
