For one of our major clients operating in the environmental services and waste-management sector, we are recruiting an experienced Finance Manager / Financial Controller to join its Abu Dhabi operations.

The successful candidate will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, cash-flow management, compliance and finance-related procurement activities while supporting the company’s operational and strategic objectives.

Job Description

The Finance Manager / Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s finance function and providing reliable financial information to support management decision-making.

The position requires a hands-on finance professional with strong knowledge of financial reporting, IFRS, UAE VAT, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present monthly financial-performance reports to management.
  • Coordinate the annual budgeting process and quarterly financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and issue accurate internal and external financial reports and statements.
  • Manage and regularly update cash-flow forecasts.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and implement effective collection strategies in coordination with other departments.
  • Monitor accounts payable and maintain efficient payment processes.
  • Manage payroll-related financial activities, remuneration controls and associated reporting.
  • Coordinate with appointed financial, statutory and local-content auditors.
  • Ensure audits are initiated and completed within the required timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable UAE financial, tax and corporate regulations.
  • Ensure the proper application of IFRS and relevant accounting standards.
  • Maintain effective financial controls, policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement finance-related Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support management with financial, corporate, contractual and compliance-related matters.
  • Manage banking activities, including transfers, bank guarantees, treasury operations, hedging and fixed investments.
  • Act as an authorized financial signatory in accordance with the applicable authority matrix.
  • Oversee and guide procurement activities in line with internal policies, ethical standards, controls and cost-efficiency objectives.
  • Support the negotiation and implementation of purchasing and service agreements.
  • Work closely with operational and support departments to improve financial performance and resource efficiency.
  • Coordinate financial-system updates, upgrades and implementations.
  • Prepare financial dashboards, reports and decision-support tools.
  • Promote digitalization and ensure the proper organization of financial records.
  • Lead, coach and develop the finance team.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement across finance and procurement activities.
  • Ensure confidentiality, professional integrity and ethical conduct at all times.
  • Comply with applicable quality, health, safety and environmental procedures.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, ACA or CIMA would be an advantage.

Experience

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar position.
  • Previous experience in an industrial, environmental services, utilities, infrastructure or project-based organization is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and cash-flow management.
  • Experience managing receivables, payables, payroll and banking activities.
  • Experience coordinating with external auditors, banks, suppliers and senior management.
  • Previous experience supervising or developing a finance team.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and UAE VAT.
  • Strong financial-analysis and management-reporting capabilities.
  • Good understanding of treasury, banking, receivables, payables and payroll controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Experience using ERP or accounting systems such as JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics NAV or equivalent.
  • Ability to prepare accurate management reports, financial dashboards and analytical tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A valid UAE driving licence is preferred.
