We are seeking a skilled and driven Design Release Engineer (DRE) to take ownership of the design, development, validation, timing, and production release of our Cowl Screen and Fuel Door systems. In this role, you will manage component development from initial concept through vehicle launch, ensuring all systems meet or exceed strict functional, quality, cost, weight, and timing requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background in automotive exteriors, plastics, or closures to make a direct impact on upcoming vehicle programs.
Key Responsibilities
Component Ownership: Lead the end-to-end design, development, validation, and production release activities for Cowl Screen and Fuel Door components.
Engineering Documentation: Author and maintain core engineering documents, including Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and formal release documentation.
Cross-Functional Integration: Coordinate packaging, space-claim, and vehicle integration with suppliers, manufacturing, validation groups, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Launch & Issue Resolution: Support prototype builds and production launches, actively driving change management activities and resolving technical issues as they arise.
Continuous Improvement: Conduct competitive benchmarking, lead cost-reduction initiatives, and implement quality improvement updates.
Technical Reporting: Prepare and present clear technical status updates, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies to program teams and management.

Basic Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
Experience: 3–5 years of automotive product development or Design Release Engineering (DRE) experience.
Tools & Processes: Hands-on experience working with NX (CAD), Teamcenter (PLM), DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and standard automotive change management processes.
Professional Skills: Strong communication, structured problem-solving capabilities, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct product experience with automotive exterior systems, closures, or injection-molded plastic components.
Prior experience managing Tier 1 suppliers through a production launch cycle.
