Missão

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically grounded HVAC Airflow Loop Design Release Engineer (DRE) to lead the development, validation, and integration of automotive HVAC units and airflow loop components.

In this role, you will hold engineering ownership over HVAC units, air ducts, PTC heaters, and air outlets. You will ensure all airflow loop components meet vehicle performance, thermal, and acoustic objectives while coordinating cross-functionally with Instrument Panel (IP), Hard Trim, Body-in-White (BIW), Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling, and Tier-1 suppliers to deliver flawless execution on program timing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Component Ownership & Release: Lead the end-to-end design, specifications, source packages, change notices (CNs), and engineering release for the HVAC unit and complete airflow loop system.

  • Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate closely with adjacent vehicle functional areas—including IP, Hard Trim, BIW, Aero/Thermal, and Engine Cooling—to manage packaging envelopes, interface clearances, and vehicle assembly feasibility.

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Direction: Lead virtual design iterations and direct CFD analysis for air ducting systems to optimize airflow distribution, reduce pressure drops, and meet vehicle airflow performance targets.

  • Validation & Testing Execution: Author, maintain, and execute component and sub-system Design Verification Plans & Reports (DVP&R) and DFMEAs. Analyze data from component bench tests, CFD simulations, drive-cell, and static cell environmental testing, establishing root-cause corrective actions as needed.

  • Supplier Leadership: Manage Tier-1 HVAC and ducting suppliers to drive program timing, technical deliverable compliance, and component quality.

  • Assembly Plant & Pilot Support: Provide hands-on support during pilot vehicle builds at assembly plants, assisting with component installation, line troubleshooting, and assembly process optimization.

Perfil

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent ABET-accredited degree program.

  • Experience: 1–5 years of direct experience in automotive HVAC unit design, ducting development, or related thermal/fluid disciplines (e.g., Engine Cooling, Aero-Thermal).

  • Thermal & Engineering Foundations: Solid grasp of basic thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and DVP&R frameworks.

  • Soft Skills & Self-Motivation: High degree of self-motivation with excellent written, verbal, and listening skills to effectively lead virtual teams and present cross-functional alignment status.

  • Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in standard PC applications and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace productivity tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with automotive HVAC modules, PTC heaters, air ducting, and dashboard air outlets.

  • Experience using 3D CAD platforms (Siemens NX, CATIA V5/V6) for packaging and clearance studies.

  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.

  • Experience supporting vehicle pilot builds or launch execution on an automotive assembly plant floor.
