Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Chassis to join our vehicle engineering team. In this broad role, you will support the design, integration, release, and plant execution of core chassis systems and subsystems—which may encompass suspension, steering, braking systems, frame/subframes, or wheel-end assemblies.
This is a remote position based in Mexico, but it requires flexibility to travel to manufacturing plants and technical centers in Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe (CDMX) to support launch builds, physical testing, supplier alignment, and cross-functional problem-solving on the assembly floor.
Key Responsibilities
CAD & Part Release Management: Create, maintain, and release 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) changes using PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia).
Cross-System Integration: Conduct basic packaging and dynamic clearance studies to ensure chassis components do not interfere with adjacent subsystems (powertrain, body, wiring harnesses, brake lines).
Supplier Coordination: Work alongside senior engineers and Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers to monitor tooling timing, prototype deliveries, and initial dimensional inspection reports.
Validation & Testing: Assist in tracking the execution of the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), following up on laboratory, rig, and vehicle-level durability/functional testing.
On-Site Plant Support: Participate in hands-on build support at assembly plants in Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe during prototype and pre-production build phases to address fitment, clearance, and assembly process issues.
Root Cause & Quality: Support engineering investigations (DFMEA, 8D, 5-Why) for component failures, manufacturing defects, or line issues.
Perfil
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in automotive engineering, mechanical design, or vehicle manufacturing (internships, co-ops, or university Formula SAE/BAJA experience strongly considered).
Technical Skills:
Fundamental proficiency in 3D CAD platforms (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks).
Understanding of core chassis systems (suspension mechanics, braking hydraulics, or steering geometry).
Basic knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and common automotive materials/processes (castings, stampings, forgings, or extrusions).
Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems and engineering release workflows.
Languages: Business fluency in Spanish and professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Mobility: Willingness and ability to travel up to 25–30% to Saltillo, Toluca, or Santa Fe (CDMX) as required by build events and program milestones.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience working in an automotive manufacturing or assembly plant setting in Mexico.
Basic understanding of quality tools (DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, APQP).
Exposure to finite element analysis (FEA) or multibody dynamics tools.
