We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing / Workstation Layout Lead Engineer to guide and mentor our engineering team in designing, validating, and implementing optimized 2D/3D workstation layouts. In this role, you will lead launch readiness efforts, ensure tooling and equipment integration align with lean manufacturing principles, oversee contractor installations, and drive continuous improvement across assembly operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Workstation Layout:

    • Lead, train, and mentor a team to develop and maintain 2D and 3D workstation layouts using AutoCAD, aligning with overall production flow and plant constraints.

    • Ensure the team coordinates data for ergonomic assessments and reach studies (using tools like ErgoMan or Process Simulate Human) to verify operator comfort and safety.

    • Validate that the team maintains accurate station documentation, drawing revisions, and design change logs.

  • Launch Readiness & Process Integration:

    • Drive the team to meet launch deliverables and achieve overall station readiness.

    • Collaborate with Launch Industrial Engineers to balance line workloads and confirm station cycle times meet takt targets.

    • Participate in pilot builds and process validation to verify layout accuracy and resolve design-related issues.

    • Support updates to PFMEA documentation, work instructions, and tooling layouts as design changes are implemented.

  • Tooling, Equipment & Installation:

    • Develop standards for tooling and assembly aids that support quality, ergonomics, and manufacturability.

    • Ensure tooling and equipment integration within each station aligns with the line layout and material flow strategy.

    • Follow up on equipment builds, resolve build issues, and coordinate equipment installation by managing contractors and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing:

    • Apply lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and optimize process efficiency.

    • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on ergonomics, productivity, and space utilization.

Perfil

  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent industry experience.

    • 5+ years of experience in automotive, heavy equipment, or high-volume manufacturing environments.

    • Proven experience supporting vehicle assembly line design or new model product launches.

  • Technical Skills & Expertise:

    • Proficiency with AutoCAD (2D and 3D).

    • Strong working knowledge of ergonomics, station design, lean manufacturing, standardized work, and tooling integration.

    • Experience with PFMEA, DFMEA, and GD&T.

    • Solid understanding of automation, robotics, or material handling systems used in modern assembly operations.

  • Soft Skills & Project Management:

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills to effectively interface with cross-functional engineering teams and contractors.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously in a fast-paced launch environment.
