Job Description – CAE Engineer (FEA & MBD)
Experience: 3–6 Years
Education: B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, Computational Mechanics, or related field Industry: Automotive / Mobility
Role Summary:We are looking for a CAE Engineer with strong hands-on experience in FEA and Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) to support Ford Global Vehicle Process Engineering (GVPE) and product development programs. The role involves structural, durability, NVH, kinematic, dynamic, and virtual validation activities across automotive systems.Key Responsibilities- Perform linear/non-linear FEA for structural stiffness, strength, stress, strain, contact, deformation, and FoS.
- Conduct modal, vibration/frequency response, NVH, fatigue, and durability analysis.
- Develop MBD/kinematic models for suspension, steering, hinges, closures, seats, mounts, mechanisms, and robotic systems.
- Extract dynamic joint loads, forces, moments, accelerations, and reactions from MBD simulations.
- Perform FEA–MBD load transfer/cascading for component-level structural and fatigue analysis.
- Develop flexible-body MBD models using CMS/Craig-Bampton and FEA modal reduction.
- Perform topology, topometry, shape, and gauge optimization for lightweighting and stiffness improvement.
- Correlate CAE results with physical test/proving-ground data and perform root-cause analysis.
- Recommend CAD/design changes, reinforcements, and optimization solutions based on simulation results.
- Support engineering reviews, gateway activities, and cross-functional teams.
FEA/Pre-Post: SimSolid, HyperMesh/HyperView, ANSYS Workbench, ANSA/METAFEA Solvers: Abaqus, Nastran, OptiStruct, ANSYS Mechanical, LS-DYNAMBD: MSC Adams, Adams/Car, MotionSolve, SIMPACK, RecurDynDurability: nCode DesignLife, fe-safe
Required Skills- Strong fundamentals in FEA, structural mechanics, fatigue, modal analysis, NVH, and dynamics.
- Good understanding of rigid/flexible body kinematics and continuum mechanics.
- Experience with automotive components/systems such as chassis, suspension, powertrain mounts, BIW closures, and mechanisms.
- Knowledge of ASME/ISO material characterization and automotive CAE processes.
- Ford virtual validation process knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
A hands-on CAE professional capable of working across the complete simulation workflow:
MBD/Kinematics → Dynamic Load Extraction → FEA → Durability/NVH → Test Correlation → Root Cause → Design Recommendation
