Missão

Here is a comprehensive Job Description for a Software Platform Engineer tailored for modern cloud-native software organizations and platform engineering teams.

Software Platform Engineer

Location: [City, Country / Remote / Hybrid]

Department: Engineering / Platform & Infrastructure

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and systems-minded Software Platform Engineer to help build and evolve our Internal Developer Platform (IDP). In this role, you will bridge the gap between application development and cloud infrastructure. Your core mission is to empower our product engineering teams to build, ship, and scale software safely and autonomously by delivering automated self-service infrastructure, robust CI/CD pipelines, and golden paths for software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Internal Developer Platform (IDP) & Automation

  • Design, build, and maintain self-service developer tools, APIs, and portals (e.g., Backstage) to abstract infrastructure complexity for product engineering teams.

  • Build "golden paths" (standardized frameworks, templates, and service scaffolding) that enable engineering teams to create, test, and deploy services autonomously.

  • Reduce cognitive load for application developers by automating environment provisioning and deployment workflows.

2. Cloud Infrastructure & Orchestration

  • Design, provision, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

  • Manage, tune, and scale production-grade Kubernetes clusters and container orchestration ecosystems.

  • Drive infrastructure cost optimization (FinOps), performance tuning, and capacity planning.

3. CI/CD & Delivery Engineering

  • Build and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable CI/CD pipelines for microservice architectures.

  • Implement modern deployment strategies, including progressive delivery (canary releases, blue/green deployments, feature flags).

  • Integrate automated security scanning (SAST/DAST, dependency checks, image scanning) directly into the delivery pipeline.

4. Observability & Reliability

  • Implement standardized observability tooling (logging, metrics, tracing, APM) across all services to ensure deep system visibility.

  • Partner with engineering teams to establish Service Level Objectives (SLO), Service Level Indicators (SLI), and error budgets.

  • Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident post-mortems to drive continuous system and process improvements.

Perfil

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Software Engineering.

  • Software Engineering Skills: Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Go, Python, Rust, TypeScript, or Java) with a focus on writing clean, maintainable automation code and internal tooling.

  • Containers & Orchestration: Deep hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes ecosystem (e.g., Helm, ArgoCD, Flux, Service Meshes like Istio or Linkerd).

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced expertise with Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.

  • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • CI/CD Expertise: Proven track record building CI/CD automation using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building developer portals using Spotify Backstage or custom internal tools.

  • Knowledge of GitOps principles and tools (ArgoCD/Flux).

  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization tools (e.g., Kubecost).

  • Deep experience with modern observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).

Key Competencies

  • Product Mindset for Infrastructure: Treating the developer platform as a product where software engineers are your internal customers.

  • Systems Thinking: Ability to analyze complex distributed systems, identify bottlenecks, and design for long-term scalability and resilience.

  • Collaboration & Advocacy: Strong communication skills to educate, mentor, and drive developer adoption of platform standards across engineering teams.
