Vehicle Diagnostics Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain vehicle diagnostic specifications for ECUs.
Define and validate diagnostic functions based on UDS (ISO 14229) and OBD-II requirements.
Configure and test Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), Diagnostic Identifiers (DIDs), and Routine Control services.
Analyze CAN/LIN communication and troubleshoot diagnostic issues.
Work with software, calibration, validation, and ECU suppliers to resolve diagnostic defects.
Perform diagnostic validation using tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, or DDT2000.
Support software integration, vehicle testing, and issue analysis.
Ensure compliance with Renault-Nissan diagnostic standards and regulatory requirements.
Create and maintain technical documentation, diagnostic specifications, and test reports.
Participate in defect tracking and root cause analysis.
Required Skills
Knowledge of automotive communication protocols:
CAN
LIN
Ethernet (preferred)
Understanding of:
UDS (ISO 14229)
OBD-II
ISO 15765 (CAN Transport Protocol)
Experience with tools such as:
Vector CANoe
CANalyzer
DDT2000
INCA (preferred)
Understanding of ECU architecture and embedded systems.
Familiarity with diagnostics over CAN and vehicle networks.
Basic scripting knowledge (CAPL or Python) is an advantage.
Strong debugging and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automobile, or related disciplines.
Typically 2–6 years of experience in automotive diagnostics, ECU validation, or embedded systems.
