About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Electrical & Electronics (EECI) to lead the design, release, integration, and validation of complex vehicle electrical systems and electronic control units.
In this senior role, you will be responsible for end-to-end component ownership within the EECI scope (Electrical / Electronic Component Integration)—spanning electronic modules, wire harnesses, sensors, distribution boxes, and CAN/LIN network interfaces. You will work remotely while maintaining flexibility to travel to assembly plants and supplier locations across Mexico to support prototype builds, testing, and production launches.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Component Ownership: Lead the complete engineering lifecycle—from concept definition and packaging through tooling, validation, production release, and running changes—for assigned EECI components and electronic modules.
Architecture & Harness Integration: Collaborate with Electrical System Architects to integrate modules, sensors, power distribution systems, and complex wiring harness architectures into the vehicle platform.
Supplier Management & DFM: Direct Tier-1 electrical and electronic component suppliers through Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews, tool timing, functional requirements, and deliverable tracking.
Validation & DVP&R: Define and execute Design Verification Plans & Reports (DVP&R). Lead bench testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and vehicle-level functional validation for low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) electrical systems.
On-Site Plant & Launch Support: Travel to assembly plants in Mexico during prototype (TT/PP) and ramp-up (MP1/MP2) phases to troubleshoot electrical interference, harness routing issues, line diagnostics, and assembly bottlenecks.
Issue Resolution & Quality: Lead root-cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) for electrical failure modes, DTC warnings, and manufacturing quality issues, managing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs/ECRs) in PLM systems.
Profil
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automotive Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of direct engineering experience as an Electrical DRE or Systems Release Engineer in the automotive/mobility industry.
Vehicle Networks & Protocols: Strong functional knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet) and diagnostic tools (Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, PCAN).
Electrical System Integration: Hands-on experience with wire harness routing, power management/distribution systems, fuses/relays, connector selection, and EMC/EMI shielding standards.
CAD & PLM Proficiency: Experience utilizing 3D CAD platforms (CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or Creo) for electrical packaging/routing alongside PLM tools (Teamcenter or Enovia).
Bilingual Communication: Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken) is required to collaborate effectively with global engineering teams and local plant operations in Mexico.
Travel Availability: Willingness and capability to travel domestically within Mexico up to 35% during critical vehicle launch and validation windows.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Electric Vehicle (EV) low-voltage and high-voltage system integration or ADAS module release.
Deep familiarity with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), Automotive Cybersecurity requirements, and standard automotive DFMEA/PFMEA processes.
Prior experience supporting major OEM or Tier-1 automotive assembly plants located in Mexico.
