Company Description
A leading automotive manufacturing organisation in Saudi Arabia is developing advanced production and intralogistics operations for a new vehicle manufacturing facility.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Material Handling Engineer specialising in Set Part Supply (SPS) to lead the planning, design and industrialisation of SPS solutions within the automotive assembly environment.
Job Description
The Senior Material Handling Engineer will be responsible for securing the successful industrialisation and implementation of SPS solutions supporting new-product introduction and major logistics-process changes.
The position covers the complete SPS flow, from material preparation and sequencing through to presentation at the production line.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement SPS strategies for automotive assembly and line-feeding operations.
- Design and implement complete SPS solutions, including:
- High-level and detailed process flows.
- Process descriptions and operating principles.
- Block layouts and detailed part-by-part layouts.
- Line-side presentation and replenishment concepts.
- System functionality and operational requirements.
- Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, or PFMEA.
- Define the required material-handling and logistics equipment, including:
- Tuggers and tow trains.
- Automated Guided Vehicles, or AGVs.
- Flow racks and line-side storage equipment.
- Pick-to-light systems.
- Scanners, screens and other logistics IT equipment.
- Design SPS carts for each material flow, including concepts, standards and CAD drawings.
- Prepare equipment specifications and Requests for Proposal.
- Support procurement activities, technical evaluations and vendor selection.
- Follow up supplier design, manufacturing, delivery, installation and validation.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, production, logistics, IT, procurement and engineering stakeholders.
- Manage the Plan for Every Part, or PFEP, and maintain flexibility for product and master-data changes.
- Manage logistics layouts and ensure alignment with the overall plant design.
- Plan the introduction of product changes while protecting physical material flow and production continuity.
- Drive the implementation of logistics equipment, tooling and line-side material-presentation solutions.
- Define and track project-equipment budgets and regularly report project status.
- Maintain complete technical and project documentation.
- Ensure activities and documentation comply with applicable ISO standards and internal procedures.
Profil
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.
- At least eight years of experience in logistics planning, material handling engineering or automotive intralogistics.
- Demonstrated involvement in at least three automotive OEM SPS set-up and implementation projects.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Set Part Supply systems within an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Experience designing complete material flows from warehouse or supermarket areas to the production line.
- Knowledge of PFEP, PFMEA, line feeding, kitting, sequencing and line-side presentation.
- Experience specifying material-handling equipment and managing suppliers.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and international project teams.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Previous experience with the Toyota Production System or Toyota SPS methodology would be an advantage.
Additional Information
This is a site-based position requiring close coordination with production, logistics, engineering, procurement, IT and equipment suppliers.
