We are seeking an experienced FAT Witness / Inspection Engineer to support upcoming Factory Acceptance Tests for manual valves at a vendor facility in Tarragona, Spain.

The assignment is expected to commence within approximately two weeks, subject to confirmation of the vendor’s final test programme. The selected inspector will act as the Client/Contractor representative during the FAT and will be responsible for verifying compliance with approved technical documentation, specifications, applicable standards and contractual requirements.

Preference will be given to inspectors already based in Spain or able to mobilize rapidly to Tarragona.

Key Responsibilities

The assigned inspector will:

• Review FAT documentation before the inspection, including Inspection and Test Plans, datasheets, approved drawings, specifications and relevant procedures.
• Attend the Factory Acceptance Test at the vendor’s premises as the Client/Contractor representative.
• Witness and verify visual inspections of manual valves.
• Verify valve dimensions against approved drawings and datasheets.
• Witness pressure, hydrostatic, pneumatic and leakage tests, as applicable.
• Verify the functional operation and mechanical performance of the valves.
• Confirm that test equipment is calibrated and supported by valid calibration certificates.
• Verify compliance with approved project specifications, quality requirements and applicable industry standards.
• Review inspection records, material certificates, test certificates and vendor documentation.
• Identify, document and report any non-conformities, deviations or outstanding technical matters.
• Coordinate with the vendor’s quality and technical teams during the inspection.
• Clearly record accepted, rejected and pending items.
• Prepare and submit a detailed FAT inspection report, including findings, photographs, test results, punch-list items and recommendations.
• Provide a clear recommendation regarding acceptance, conditional acceptance or rejection of the inspected equipment.

Required Experience

• Degree or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience performing FAT witnessing or vendor inspection activities.
• Strong experience with manual valves and associated testing activities.
• Practical knowledge of visual, dimensional, pressure, leakage and functional testing.
• Experience reviewing ITPs, drawings, datasheets, specifications and vendor quality documentation.
• Familiarity with applicable valve inspection and testing standards, including relevant API, ASME, EN or project-specific requirements.
• Ability to identify technical deviations and issue clear inspection comments or non-conformity reports.
• Strong technical reporting and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and represent the Client professionally at the vendor facility.
• Professional working proficiency in English.
• Spanish language capability would be an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience inspecting gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly or other manual valve types.
• Vendor inspection or third-party inspection experience.
• Relevant inspection, quality, NDT or mechanical testing certification.
• Previous experience working with EPC contractors, engineering consultancies, manufacturers or inspection agencies.
• Current residence in Spain or easy access to Tarragona.

• Pre-inspection review comments, where applicable.
• Daily inspection notes or attendance records.
• Photographic evidence of the tests witnessed.
• List of deviations, non-conformities and outstanding actions.
• Completed inspection checklist or release note, where required.
• Final FAT inspection report.
• Clear acceptance or recommendation status.
