The Wiring Harness Engineering Specialist for the Warranty Acceleration Team (WAT) is responsible for rapidly identifying, investigating, and resolving customer warranty issues affecting electrical distribution systems across North America.
This position will lead technical investigations from initial warranty claim analysis through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Interim Corrective Action (ICA), and Permanent Corrective Action (PCA) implementation. The successful candidate will work directly with assembly plants, supplier manufacturing locations, quality organizations, field engineers, and product development teams to accelerate issue resolution and improve customer satisfaction.
The role requires a highly motivated engineer capable of working independently in fast-paced environments while driving cross-functional teams toward timely corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate customer warranty concerns involving electrical distribution systems, wiring harnesses, connectors, terminals, grounding systems, sensors, actuators, and power distribution components.
- Analyze warranty claims, field reports, dealer feedback, and engineering test results to identify emerging quality trends.
- Develop technically sound Root Cause Analysis (RCA) statements supported by engineering data and evidence.
- Lead development and implementation of Interim Corrective Actions (ICA) and Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA).
- Create and manage GIMS/S2IRIUS strategies, issue trackers, and technical documentation supporting issue resolution.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, teardown analysis, root cause testing, and validation activities.
- Perform on-site investigations at assembly plants, supplier facilities, proving grounds, laboratories, and dealerships.
- Lead and participate in GEMBA walks focused on defect detection, containment, and corrective action verification.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Vehicle Validation, Service Engineering, and Warranty teams.
- Support warranty reduction initiatives and achievement of Time-to-Fix (TTF), 1MIS, and 3MIS performance objectives.
- Identify lessons learned and drive implementation into future vehicle programs and engineering standards.
- Utilize data analytics and AI tools to accelerate issue investigation and trend identification.
- Prepare technical presentations and executive summaries for leadership review.
Profil
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of automotive wiring harness engineering experience.
- Experience with vehicle electrical architecture, wiring harnesses, connectors, terminals, grounding systems, CAN/LIN communications, or power distribution systems.
- Demonstrated problem-solving experience using structured methodologies.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, connector drawings, harness prints, and diagnostic information.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting warranty, quality, manufacturing, supplier quality, or field engineering organizations.
- Experience conducting plant investigations and supplier audits.
- Understanding of assembly processes, connector installation practices, torque verification, and electrical manufacturing controls.
- Familiarity with North American assembly plants and supplier manufacturing operations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Palantir, and data analytics experience.
- Experience with AI-enabled engineering tools and data-driven investigations.
