Job Summary
We are seeking an Instrument Panel (IP) Design Engineer with experience in automotive interior trim design. The ideal candidate should have expertise in designing instrument panel components using CATIA V5 or Siemens NX, with a strong understanding of plastics, manufacturing processes, packaging, and product development.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop Instrument Panel (IP) systems and related interior trim components.
Create 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using CATIA V5 or Siemens NX.
Design components such as IP Upper, IP Lower, Center Console, Glove Box, HVAC Bezel, Cluster Bezel, Air Vent, and trim parts.
Perform packaging studies and ensure compliance with vehicle architecture and space constraints.
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
Coordinate with CAE, manufacturing, tooling, quality, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
Support prototype builds, testing, design validation, and production launch.
Manage engineering changes (ECN/ECR) and maintain BOMs and design documentation.
Ensure compliance with OEM standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
Required Skills
Proficiency in CATIA V5 or Siemens NX.
Experience in automotive interior trim or Instrument Panel design.
Knowledge of plastic part design, injection molding, and tooling.
Understanding of attachment features such as ribs, bosses, snaps, locators, heat stakes, and screw bosses.
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and engineering drawings.
Experience with BOM creation and engineering change management.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Teamcenter, ENOVIA, or Windchill.
Knowledge of DFMEA, APQP, PPAP, and DVP&R.
Familiarity with OEM design standards and automotive product development processes.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering.
