Compito

Manage cooling system responsibilities seamlessly from the initial concept phase through end of life. Ensure cooling systems including radiators, condensers, fan assemblies, transmission oil coolers, electric coolant heaters, valves, pumps, and chillers meet all functional and performance requirements. Deliver on required cost, weight, investment, timing, and quality objectives. Provide strong support for concept studies, thermal system design, prototype procurement, supplier management, sourcing, and validation. Coordinate technical issue resolution pertaining to engineering and quality at all program stages and across all functional areas. Act as the launch lead for cooling systems by supporting plant development onsite, triaging and resolving issues, communicating status, and managing resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with a strong emphasis on automotive cooling and HVAC components at either an OEM or supplier.
  • Proven program management experience with the ability to set timelines, maintain program budgets, and execute at required milestones.
  • Strong leadership and an entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrating the ability to influence and lead design release engineers through dotted-line management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to proactively present ideas and report status to varied audiences, including top management.
  • Strong working knowledge of automotive cooling components, their guiding operating principles, and automotive underhood/underbody packaging.
  • General knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes, including molding, stamping, welding, brazing, machining, casting, and coatings.
  • Ability to review and apply component and system DFMEAs and DVP&Rs.

Required Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities and travel 10-20% to supplier and vehicle assembly plants in North America.

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an ABET-accredited equivalent.
  • Deep understanding of electric vehicle thermal systems, vehicle system interactions, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Understanding of basic electrical circuits, components, and operating principles.
  • Experience in component costing (piece cost and tooling).
  • Familiarity with powertrain software, controls, and total vehicle testing, including NVH.
  • Experience utilizing DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) proactive and/or reactive quality tools.
  • Working knowledge of UG/NX CAD systems, specifically Teamcenter PLM and Visual Mockup.
  • Knowledge of Stellantis systems and products, or past experience working for Stellantis as an employee or supplier.
