Mission
Key Responsibilities
Geological Operations & Real-Time Interpretation
● Monitor and interpret cuttings, mud gas, LWD/MWD and wireline data in real time.
● Identify formation tops, lithological changes and hydrocarbon shows.
● Correlate actual geological observations with pre-drill models and seismic
predictions.
● Identify drilling hazards including abnormal pressures, faults, instability zones, lost
circulation and gas influxes.
● Recommend casing setting depths, coring points and target adjustments.
● Support optimisation of drilling performance and data acquisition programmes.
Service Company Supervision
● Supervise and coordinate geoscience-related service providers including:
○ Mud Logging
○ Logging While Drilling (LWD)
○ Wireline Logging
○ Coring Operations
● Ensure quality, completeness and integration of all acquired geological data.
● Oversee sample management, preservation and shipment.
HSE & Compliance
● Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments and incident reporting.
● Ensure compliance with offshore safety regulations and company HSE requirements.
● Promote a strong safety culture across all contractors operating within the
geoscience scope.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
● Produce daily geological reports and end-of-well reports.
● Coordinate closely with offshore drilling teams, onshore subsurface teams and
service companies.
● Attend operational and technical meetings.
● Mentor junior geologists and trainees.
● Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practices.
Qualifications
● Degree or Diploma in Geoscience, Geology or a related discipline.
● Subsurface Geology for Operations Geologist and Well Site Geologist certificate from
I.F.P (INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE)
● Valid BOSIET certification including Emergency Breathing System (EBS).
● Valid Offshore Medical Certificate.
● Fluent English (written and spoken).
Experience Required
● Minimum 10 years of experience as a Senior Well Site Geologist.
● Proven experience in:
○ Deepwater offshore drilling operations.
○ Exploration and appraisal wells.
○ Vertical, deviated and sidetrack wells.
○ High-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT) environments.
● Strong exposure to:
○ Logging While Drilling (LWD)
○ Wireline Logging
○ Coring Programmes
○ Drill Stem Testing (DST)
○ Plug & Abandonment Operations
Technical Skills
Experience with:
