Mission
Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior EWIS Integration Engineer to provide high-level technical leadership for complex aircraft development programs and sustaining initiatives. In this role, you will lead the 3D physical integration, routing, component selection, and structural support design for Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems across major aircraft zones. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will ensure full regulatory airworthiness compliance, drive cross-functional design decisions, and optimize harness architectures for performance, weight, manufacturability, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
EWIS Design & Technical Integration:
Develop and approve complex 3D EWIS harness routing architectures, component layouts, structural bracketry, and detail assembly drawings.
Drive the selection and specification of EWIS components, including connectors, backshells, clamping systems, conduits, and protective shielding.
Enforce regulatory segregation and separation rules, bend-radius limits, support spacing, environmental protection, and maintenance accessibility.
Cross-Functional & Physical Interface Alignment:
Reconcile 3D physical routing against 2D electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment pinouts, and aircraft zonal constraints.
Collaborate extensively with harness suppliers, system functional teams, structures, stress, interiors, thermal, manufacturing, E3/EMC specialists, and mass properties.
Lead spatial integration reviews to resolve complex routing clashes, assembly sequence bottlenecks, and producibility conflicts with internal teams and external partners.
Compliance, Airworthiness & Product Lifecycle:
Ensure all EWIS designs comply with internal standard practices, customer specifications, and applicable FAA/EASA airworthiness certification standards.
Lead root-cause analysis (RCCA) for complex technical issues arising in manufacturing, supplier production, ground/flight tests, or in-service fleet operations.
Manage engineering change processes, perform multi-variable impact assessments (technical, schedule, weight, cost, risk), and oversee product data integrity within the PLM system.
Senior Technical Leadership & Mentorship:
Lead multi-zone or multi-system EWIS integration activities, establishing coherent technical strategy and design methodologies.
Review and sign off on key engineering deliverables within delegated approval authority.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, influence technical decisions across cross-functional groups without direct authority, and advance departmental standards and digital tools.
Profile
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience: Typically 10–15+ years of relevant aerospace engineering experience with a heavy focus on 3D EWIS design, harness routing, and electrical physical integration.
Technical Expertise:
Deep expertise in aircraft EWIS installation, harness manufacturing methods, installation/inspection considerations, and EWIS certification regulations.
Advanced mastery of correlating physical CAD designs with 2D electrical wiring schematics and zone environment constraints.
Solid grasp of aerospace engineering drawing standards, configuration management, and weight optimization.
Tools & Systems:
Proficiency in CAD/PLM platforms, specifically CATIA V5 (Electrical Workbenches / Electrical Harness Installation) and ENOVIA; experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter is a strong asset.
Expertise in PLM environments, configuration control, and product release processes.
Leadership & Soft Skills:
Exceptional written and verbal technical communication skills.
Proven ability to lead complex technical investigations, guide engineering decisions, and mentor junior engineers.
Languages: Fluency in English is required; French language proficiency is considered an asset.
