EWIS Integrator (Mid Level)

  • Fixed-term, 6-12 months
  • Full-time
  • At least 5 years of experience (Senior level)
  • Bachelor degree
  • SYSTEMS INTEGRATION ENGINEER

Mission

Position Overview: We are seeking a mid-level EWIS Integration Engineer to lead core work packages and resolve complex electrical wiring physical integration challenges on aircraft programs. In this role, you will focus on the 3D harness design, component integration, routing, support structures, and spatial clearance of Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems. You will act as a key technical focal point, collaborating across cross-functional engineering disciplines and suppliers to ensure all electrical installations meet strict certification, producibility, and zonal segregation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • EWIS Design & Integration:

    • Develop and review 3D EWIS harness routing proposals, component placements, support designs, assemblies, and detail installation drawings.

    • Select and integrate EWIS components, including connectors, backshells, clamps, brackets, conduit systems, and protective sleeving.

    • Enforce mandatory installation rules regarding electrical separation/segregation, minimum bend radii, support spacing, environmental protection, and maintenance accessibility.

  • Electrical & Physical Interface Coordination:

    • Align physical 3D harness routing with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pinouts, equipment interfaces, and zonal spatial limits.

    • Partner closely with harness manufacturers, system functional engineers, structures, stress, interiors, thermal, manufacturing, E3/EMC specialists, and mass properties.

    • Proactively identify and resolve spatial clashes, routing conflicts, assembly sequence roadblocks, and manufacturing constraint issues.

  • Design Maturity, Compliance & Product Lifecycle:

    • Review EWIS layouts and drawings to ensure compliance with company standards, EWIS airworthiness regulations, and program certification requirements.

    • Lead root-cause investigations and deliver corrective technical solutions for issues originating in manufacturing, supplier production, ground/flight tests, or field service.

    • Manage engineering change notices, perform impact assessments (cost, schedule, weight, risk), and maintain rigorous product data within the PLM environment.

  • Work Package & Technical Leadership:

    • Lead assigned EWIS work packages, coordinating deliverables, interface requirements, and schedules across multi-disciplinary teams.

    • Develop and present technical substantiations for complex routing and integration challenges to engineering leadership.

    • Conduct peer reviews of drawings and designs, share operational lessons learned, and mentor junior engineers within the EWIS domain.

Profile

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent relevant engineering technology degree/experience).

  • Experience: Typically 5+ years of hands-on aerospace engineering experience specializing in 3D EWIS design, harness routing, and electrical integration.

  • Technical Knowledge:

    • In-depth knowledge of aircraft EWIS physical integration, separation/segregation rules, harness manufacturing processes, and EWIS regulatory certification fundamentals.

    • Strong ability to correlate 3D CAD physical routing with 2D electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

    • Familiarity with engineering drawings, configuration management, and weight management.

  • Tools & Systems:

    • Proficiency in CATIA V5 (specifically Electrical Workbenches/Electrical Harness Installation) and ENOVIA; experience with NX and Teamcenter is an asset.

    • Solid understanding of PLM systems, product definition, and engineering change processes.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Clear, structured technical writing and verbal communication skills.

    • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with a collaborative, cross-functional mindset.

    • Proven ability to manage technical priorities and provide constructive guidance to team members.

  • Languages: Fluency in English is required; French language skills are considered an asset.
