Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Signaling Lead to support a major railway infrastructure project in Jordan.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coordinating railway signaling activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring technical compliance, effective system integration, interface management, and alignment with applicable railway standards and project requirements.
This position is associated with a project currently at the tender/award stage. Candidates proposed for the role must confirm their availability and willingness to mobilize to Jordan should the project be awarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all technical activities related to the railway signaling scope.
- Review signaling designs, specifications, drawings, technical documentation and system requirements.
- Ensure signaling solutions comply with project requirements, applicable railway standards, safety requirements and contractual specifications.
- Coordinate signaling interfaces with other railway systems and disciplines including telecommunications, SCADA/ICSS, rolling stock, track, power supply, civil works and operations.
- Manage technical interfaces between designers, contractors, suppliers, system integrators and other project stakeholders.
- Review signaling system architecture, equipment configuration and interface requirements.
- Support design reviews, technical clarification meetings and resolution of signaling-related technical issues.
- Coordinate signaling installation, integration, testing and commissioning activities where applicable.
- Review test procedures, test documentation, technical submissions and commissioning records.
- Support system integration and verification and validation activities.
- Ensure signaling requirements are correctly implemented throughout design, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Monitor technical progress, identify potential risks and propose appropriate mitigation measures.
- Coordinate with Safety and RAM teams regarding signaling-related safety, reliability, availability and maintainability requirements.
- Support technical acceptance and final handover of signaling systems.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to signaling engineers and specialists assigned to the project.
- Participate in meetings with project management, engineering teams, contractors and other stakeholders as required.
Profile
Qualifications
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Railway Engineering, Systems Engineering or another relevant technical/engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, in accordance with the Category C / Senior Professional requirement.
- Strong professional experience in railway signaling systems on major rail infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in signaling engineering, design review, system integration, installation and/or testing and commissioning.
- Good understanding of railway signaling principles, architectures and interfaces.
- Experience with signaling technologies such as electronic/computer-based interlocking, train detection, axle counters, track circuits, ATP/ATO, ETCS/ERTMS, CBTC or equivalent railway signaling systems, depending on the project environment.
- Strong knowledge of signaling interfaces with other railway systems and infrastructure disciplines.
- Familiarity with railway system assurance, RAMS and safety-related processes is highly desirable.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary railway projects with multiple contractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
- Previous experience on mainline, metro, high-speed rail or other complex railway projects will be considered an advantage.
- Middle East or international project experience is an advantage.
- Strong coordination, communication and technical leadership skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory.
- Must be willing and able to work in Jordan during project execution.
- Candidate must be available, or capable of becoming available, for the project should it be awarded.
