Mission
Position Summary
Responsible for the design, development, validation, and production release of exterior trim components, including front/rear fascia systems, bumpers, underbody shields, wheel liners, cladding, fender flares, moldings, badges, emblems, decals, and functional plastic components.
Key Responsibilities
Design Realization: Lead exterior trim design, packaging, and release while converting studio styling themes into production-feasible components.
Inter-Departmental Alignment: Coordinate closely with Product Design Studio, Vehicle Integration, Aerodynamics, Body Engineering, and Tier-1 suppliers.
Tooling & Process Management: Apply advanced knowledge of injection molding, exterior painting, chrome plating, and plastic decoration techniques.
Data & Validation: Manage 3D CAD, 2D drawings, BOMs, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and change notices while tracking supplier tooling, cost, quality, and launch readiness.
Profile
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Materials, or Automotive Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Experience: 3–5 years of design-and-release experience focused on exterior body systems or injection-molded automotive components.
Software: Proficiency in Siemens NX or CATIA V5, along with Teamcenter PLM.
Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, plastic injection tooling, and exterior finishing processes.
