Mission
We are seeking a Junior Product Engineer / Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support the design, development, validation, and release of automotive brake system components. The engineer will work with cross-functional internal teams and Tier-1 suppliers to ensure components meet rigorous performance, quality, safety, cost, and timing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Component Release: Support the design, sizing, validation, and engineering release of brake boosters, calipers, discs, drums, lines/hoses, parking brakes, and pedal assemblies.
Technical Documentation: Assist in drafting technical requirements, engineering specifications, RFQs, DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and control plans.
Supplier Coordination: Partner with Tier-1 suppliers to monitor component design status, tooling, testing, quality, and delivery schedules.
Review & Verification: Review supplier drawings, test reports, tooling designs, and manufacturing fixtures under senior engineer guidance.
Prototype & Launch: Support prototype vehicle builds, pilot builds, lab testing, and assembly plant launch activities.
Issue Resolution: Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions for development, plant assembly, and warranty concerns.
Compliance & Homologation: Ensure components comply with safety regulations, FMVSS, and regional homologation requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Vehicle Dynamics, Chassis, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Program Management teams.
Profile
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: 0–3 years of automotive product engineering, design, validation, or manufacturing experience.
Technical Basics: Basic understanding of brake mechanics, hydraulic systems, and mechanical design principles.
Design & Quality Tools: Exposure to engineering drawings, specifications, DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, and PPAP concepts.
CAD/PLM Software: Academic, internship, or professional experience with CATIA V5, Siemens NX, or Teamcenter PLM.
Flexibility: Willingness to work onsite and travel occasionally to supplier facilities or assembly plants.
Preferred Qualifications
Internship, co-op, or academic project experience within the automotive industry.
Hands-on exposure to brake components, vehicle dynamics, or chassis engineering.
Experience with 3D CAD modeling, engineering calculations, or physical component testing.
Knowledge of automotive manufacturing, stamping, casting, and assembly processes.
