Mission
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Design & Release Engineer specializing in HVAC Control Modules and Sensors. In this role, you will lead the design, development, validation, and release of advanced climate control components. You will act as the primary technical link between internal engineering teams (software, calibration, systems) and global suppliers to ensure all functional, quality, and timing objectives are met from concept through production launch.
Key Responsibilities
Component Ownership: Lead the design, development, and engineering release of HVAC control modules, user interfaces, and environmental/system sensors.
Supplier & Program Management: Author technical source packages, engineering specifications, and functional requirements. Manage supplier deliverables to secure compliance with program milestones and vehicle launch timing.
Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate closely with HVAC Software, Calibration, and Systems Engineering teams to integrate hardware and software components seamlessly into the vehicle architecture.
Lifecycle & Change Management: Author and manage Engineering Change Notices (CN), maintain Bill of Materials (BOM), and oversee component packaging and integration.
Issue Resolution & Root Cause Analysis: Track, investigate, and drive the resolution of technical issues identified during development, pre-production prototype builds, and physical assembly plant launches.
Quality Assurance: Ensure robust designs by driving continuous improvement initiatives and implementing corporate quality standards.
Profile
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET-accredited university.
Experience: 5+ years of direct experience in automotive design and release (DRE) for HVAC control modules, sensors, or complex electronic components.
Skills:
Proven track record in supplier management and cross-functional leadership within an OEM or Tier 1 environment.
Exceptional organizational, project management, and communication skills.
Proactive, self-motivated mindset with a strong drive to deliver results under tight program timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree: Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
Core Engineering Tools: Strong proficiency with DFMEA, DVP&R, Control Plans, and Agile software development methodologies.
Network & Electronics: Solid understanding of vehicle architecture, including CAN/LIN bus protocols and electronic circuit analysis.
CAD & PLM Software: Hands-on experience with NX and Teamcenter for CAD data management and digital mockup reviews.
Quality Methodologies:
Experience with proactive quality tools (Design for Six Sigma - DFSS).
Experience with reactive problem-solving tools (Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin Red X, or 8D).
Launch Experience: Direct experience supporting automotive assembly plant builds and vehicle program launches on-site.
