Welding, Riveting, Hemming Technologies Engineer (Automotive Body Shop)
Job Description
We are currently looking for a Joining Technologies Engineer to join us and help deliver a project in the West Midlands.
The successful Candidate will be supporting the delivery of automotive-related project through the following activities:
- Supporting the planning and deployment, of all new and modified manufacturing processes and facilities for body assemblies.
- Working within a team of joining engineers.
- Providing multiple teams with advice and direction on feasibility for joining technologies, ensuring we deliver a capable process into a production facility.
- Bringing your expertise in joining to the team and drive the team with suitable solutions for equipment as well as joining performance.
- Current portfolio of joining technologies used across the facilities are: MIG, TIG, Laser, Self-Piercing Riveting, Resistance Spot Welding, Adhesive, Flow Drive Screw, Roller Hemming, associated with mixed metal joining.
- You will have an opportunity to expand on your current skills base as required and incorporate other joining technologies to fulfil your career aspirations and thirst for knowledge in the field of joining.
Qualifications
- Background in joining technologies, preferably working at a technical level with demonstrable experience working with a number of the following technologies: TIG, MIG, LASER, Self-Piercing Riveting, Resistance Spot Welding, Stud welding, Friction Stir Welding applications & Adhesive.
- Understanding of the good practices, which must be employed in each of the above technologies and ability to describe them.
- Demonstrable Experience working with pre production simulation techniques.
- Experience working with vision systems, flow screw applications, roller hemming, ABB robots and Tucker riveting is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and ability to maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholder at various levels.
- Proficiency in Excel, using formulas and pivot tables for data analysis and problem solving.
- Ability to transfer your knowledge base in an Engineering industry and transfer best practices into automotive environment.
- Good listening skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
