Principal Engineer, Battery Electric Vehicle Energy Efficiency

Job Description

The Principal Engineer, BEV Energy Efficiency will define, verify, tune, and validate the vehicle feature performance according to the project specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Defining and maintaining brand specific Energy Efficiency, Average Speed, and Drivability targets.
  • Building and maintaining long-term feature roadmaps for products in collaboration with Brand Management, Marketing, Product Planning, and Engineering groups.
  • Translating the customer needs into measurable requirements for the feature and distribute them into technical requirements to engineering teams.
  • Estimating risks for feature deliveries and, needs for verification actions and tests support (virtual testing, parts, mules, prototypes), including ensuring adequate budget and resources.
  • Setting up verification and validation plans for the feature and reporting on their progress during feature reviews.
  • Conducting an objective evaluation of the vehicle feature and delivering feature status reports prior to the gates' opening, including approvals or proposals and requests for modifications.
  • Developing testing methods for current and future technologies, in tune with how customers use our products.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of customer application and how it affects your area of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in Automotive, Heavy Truck, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Energy Efficiency related engineering experience (including testing, simulation, CFD, statistical analysis, DAQ, data analysis, etc.).
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience within Heavy Duty Truck or Automotive Energy Efficiency.
  • Experience with Energy Efficiency testing (on-road, wind tunnel, dyno, etc.).
  • Knowledge in data acquisition and data post processing.
  • Experience utilizing simulation tools (e.g., Energy Efficiency simulation, CFD, etc.).
  • Proven success as a liaison with regulatory and industry groups related to Energy Efficiency.
  • Testing Strategy background, including Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, etc.
