Position Overview
The Product Engineer – Chassis Mounts is responsible for the system-level design, development, validation, timing, and engineering release of powertrain mounts, differential mounts, cradle mounts, Electric Drive Module (EDM) mounts, body mounts, and adapter brackets. The engineer executes a comprehensive work plan to meet component and system-level functional objectives, delivering quality components on time from initial concept through vehicle launch.
Key Responsibilities
Design & System Integration
CAD & Packaging: Lead system design, CAD packaging (NX), and release of chassis powertrain mounts, EDM mounts, body mounts, and related bracketry.
PLM & BOM Management: Ensure model and drawing integrity in PLM/Teamcenter system, manage the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM), and write Engineering Change Notices (CN).
Joint Design: Design fastened joints and lead assembly torque development and validation.
Cross-Functional & Attribute Balancing
Attribute Integration: Work closely with support groups—including NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), Vehicle Dynamics, Vehicle Integration, Stress Lab, and CAE—to execute validation and testing.
Functional Trade-Offs: Balance mount stiffness, isolation, fatigue life, and durability attributes to meet vehicle-level functional objectives.
Validation & Engineering Quality
Quality Documentation: Create, update, and manage component Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), and Product Assurance Plans (PAP).
Testing Execution: Support physical system testing in labs and vehicle-level dynamic/NVH testing.
Problem Solving: Lead root-cause problem solving for mount-related issues using structured issue-tracking systems.
Supplier & Assembly Plant Support
Supplier Management: Manage Tier-1 mount suppliers to ensure technical requirements, cost, weight, and timing targets are met.
Launch Support: Provide hands-on build support at OEM assembly plants and supplier manufacturing facilities during prototype and production launch phases.
Profil
- Degree: Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
