Aufgabe

POSITION SUMMARY

SEGULA Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support electrical engineering design review, technical verification and commissioning activities for major industrial and hydrocarbon facilities.

The successful candidate will assess electrical engineering documentation, power distribution systems, protection studies, hazardous-area equipment and electrical interfaces with mechanical and control systems. The role focuses on technical compliance, safety, reliability, maintainability and operational performance throughout the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning lifecycle.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review electrical design bases, design criteria, electrical load lists, single-line diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Assess electrical power distribution systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, motor control centres (MCCs) and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
  • Review electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, protection coordination, power-system studies and equipment sizing.
  • Verify the design and suitability of electrical installations, including cables, cable routing, earthing, bonding and lightning protection.
  • Review lighting systems, emergency lighting, small power distribution and electrical utilities.
  • Assess hazardous-area electrical equipment selection and compliance with applicable explosion protection (Ex) requirements.
  • Review electrical interfaces with pumps, compressors, motors, instrumentation, control systems and packaged equipment.
  • Verify electrical system reliability, redundancy, maintainability and operational safety.
  • Review vendor documentation, technical specifications, equipment datasheets, inspection and test plans, and technical deviations.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary engineering reviews, HAZID, HAZOP and SIL workshops, where applicable.
  • Identify technical risks, design discrepancies, non-conformances and opportunities for improvement.
  • Verify compliance with applicable South African regulations, SANS and relevant IEC standards.
  • Coordinate electrical engineering interfaces with mechanical, process, piping, instrumentation and control, and civil and structural disciplines.
  • Support procurement, equipment inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT) and commissioning-readiness reviews.
  • Support electrical installation inspections, pre-commissioning, energisation, commissioning and handover activities.
  • Maintain technical review records and monitor the resolution of engineering comments.
  • Provide technical recommendations and escalate significant electrical safety or compliance issues.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide senior-level electrical engineering expertise and technical guidance.
  • Review and verify electrical engineering deliverables within delegated technical authority.
  • Assess compliance with applicable electrical codes, regulations, specifications and safety requirements.
  • Identify electrical design, protection, hazardous-area and equipment interface risks.
  • Support engineering quality assurance, technical risk management and resolution of non-conformances.
  • Coordinate electrical interfaces across multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation and support safe, reliable system operation.
