POSITION SUMMARY
SEGULA Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Piping and Pipeline Engineer to support piping and pipeline engineering activities for major industrial and hydrocarbon facilities.
The successful candidate will review and verify piping and pipeline design documentation, assess plant layouts and routing, evaluate piping stress and support arrangements, and ensure that engineering solutions meet applicable technical standards, safety requirements and operational needs.
The role covers engineering design review, technical verification, multidisciplinary coordination, constructability assessment and support during procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review piping and pipeline design bases, engineering criteria, line lists, piping classes and material specifications.
- Assess plot plans, piping layouts, equipment arrangements, routing drawings, isometrics and general arrangement drawings.
- Review piping stress analysis, flexibility calculations, support arrangements, thermal expansion and equipment nozzle loads.
- Assess piping and pipeline systems associated with LPG transfer, loading and offloading, storage facilities, boil-off gas, flare systems and utilities.
- Review pipeline and piping interfaces, tie-ins, isolation systems, drainage, venting and pressure-relief arrangements.
- Verify material selection, corrosion protection, insulation requirements and suitability for operating conditions.
- Assess constructability, maintainability, accessibility, operability and safety of piping layouts and routing.
- Participate in 3D model reviews, interdisciplinary design reviews and constructability assessments.
- Review engineering calculations, technical specifications, drawings, datasheets, schedules and vendor documentation.
- Verify compliance with applicable South African regulations, project requirements and recognised international codes and standards.
- Identify technical deviations, design discrepancies, interface risks and non-conformances.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil and structural, instrumentation, electrical and construction disciplines.
- Support technical-query resolution during procurement, fabrication, installation and construction.
- Participate in selected site inspections and review piping installation quality and technical compliance.
- Support pre-commissioning, pressure testing, flushing, reinstatement, commissioning and handover activities, as applicable.
- Maintain engineering review records and track technical comments through close-out.
- Provide technical recommendations and escalate significant engineering risks when necessary.
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide senior-level piping and pipeline engineering expertise.
- Review and verify engineering deliverables within delegated technical authority.
- Identify piping design, stress, material and constructability risks.
- Assess compliance with engineering specifications, design codes and applicable regulations.
- Support technical risk management, quality assurance and resolution of engineering deviations.
- Coordinate technical interfaces across multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
- Maintain clear engineering documentation and effective technical communication.
