Position Summary
The Design Convergence Lead (DCL) Engineer is responsible for establishing, developing, and enforcing component- and system-level dimensional control requirements from initial vehicle concept through tooling kickoff. Operating at the intersection of engineering design, perceived quality, and manufacturing, the DCL Engineer performs rigorous tolerance analyses and enforces design standards to ensure superior vehicle fit, finish, and structural integrity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Dimensional Control & Requirements Management
Technical Requirements: Lead the creation, review, and approval of dimensional technical specifications and tolerances for internal component parts and tier-supplier assemblies.
Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis: Perform detailed 1D/3D tolerance stack-up calculations to evaluate design feasibility, mitigate manufacturing variation, and ensure overall assembly robustness.
Perceived Quality Alignment: Analyze 3D CAD models to ensure full compliance with Stellantis perceived quality rules, flush-and-gap targets, and exterior/interior visual execution standards.
2. Project Management & Issue Resolution
KPI & Deliverable Tracking: Manage program milestones, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and maintain status tracking across assigned vehicle systems.
Escalation Management: Identify dimensional gaps, interference risks, and quality non-conformances early in the design phase, escalating issues to cross-functional leadership in a timely manner.
Root-Cause Analysis: Apply statistical tools and structured problem-solving methodologies to resolve complex geometry and packaging challenges.
Profil
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing, or related field).
Experience: 1 to 5 years of professional experience in automotive engineering, manufacturing, or quality assurance.
Problem-Solving & Statistics: Functional understanding of basic statistical principles, capability analysis, and root-cause problem-solving frameworks.
Software Proficiency: High proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Core Competencies: Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills with a self-motivated mindset and a strong passion for automotive quality.
Preferred Qualifications
CAD Software Expertise: Hands-on experience navigating and analyzing 3D CAD data (such as Siemens NX or CATIA).
Dimensional Engineering: Prior exposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and 1D/3D tolerance simulation tools.
