Aufgabe

We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join a leading organisation within the rail industry. The successful candidate will support the delivery and continuous improvement of the reliability and operational performance of rolling stock systems throughout their lifecycle.

This role combines engineering analysis, field performance monitoring and cross-functional collaboration to improve asset reliability, availability and maintainability while supporting safety, quality and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Reliability Engineering

  • Develop and implement reliability engineering activities throughout the project and asset lifecycle.
  • Perform reliability predictions and establish reliability targets for systems and subsystems.
  • Monitor fleet performance using operational and maintenance data.
  • Define, monitor and report key reliability and availability KPIs.
  • Support reliability growth programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Engineering Analysis

  • Conduct engineering analyses including:
    • Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
    • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
    • Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD)
    • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
    • Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) modelling
  • Analyse field failures and identify recurring failure trends.
  • Develop engineering recommendations to improve product reliability and maintainability.

Design & Technical Support

  • Provide Design for Reliability and Design for Maintainability recommendations.
  • Review engineering designs to ensure compliance with reliability and lifecycle objectives.
  • Participate in engineering reviews and technical risk assessments.
  • Support system optimisation through engineering trade-off studies.

Testing & Validation

  • Support reliability validation activities during manufacturing, testing and commissioning.
  • Analyse reliability demonstration results and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Review test data and verify compliance with project and customer requirements.

Operational Support

  • Work closely with maintenance and operational teams to improve fleet performance.
  • Analyse warranty and in-service failures.
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions based on operational feedback.
  • Support maintenance optimisation and lifecycle cost reduction initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive reliability improvement projects using engineering data and lessons learned.
  • Support implementation of best practices and standard engineering methodologies.
  • Prepare technical reports and present recommendations to internal stakeholders and customers.

Profil

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial or Systems Engineering.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Reliability Engineering, RAM/RAMS Engineering or Asset Performance Engineering.
  • Experience within the rail, transportation or other heavy industrial sectors is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with safety-critical systems would be advantageous.

Technical Knowledge

Experience with some of the following is desirable:

  • Reliability Engineering principles
  • RAM/RAMS methodologies
  • FMECA, FTA and Root Cause Analysis
  • Reliability prediction techniques
  • Reliability growth and performance monitoring
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Asset lifecycle management
  • Statistical analysis and engineering data interpretation
  • International railway standards (e.g. EN 50126) or equivalent reliability standards
