Chassis Engineering Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Chassis Engineering Specialist to oversee and manage various stages of the manufacturing process for chassis systems, with a specific focus on battery tray production. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking engineering processes, ensuring deliverables are met, and maintaining project schedules throughout different phases—from specification to serial life management.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Engineering & Job Tracking:
- Monitor and track Process Engineering Specification phase activities.
- Oversee RFQ (Request for Quotation) phase progress and follow-up.
- Supervise the design and manufacturing phase, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Manage the on-site start-up phase to guarantee successful implementation.
- Handle serial life management, ensuring continuous process improvement.
Deliverables & Documentation:
- Maintain and update a detailed project schedule (planned vs. completed tasks).
- Provide weekly reporting to PMSI or RCA on project progress.
- Document meeting minutes and key action items.
- Prepare and review critical reports, including:
- Equipment FMEA report
- Mechanical, electrical, and fluid design reports
- Reserve monitoring files (design & RP stage tracking)
- Bill of Materials (BOM) audit reports
- Provisional acceptance report
- Track and validate modification requests and ensure proper issuance.
- Manage supplier tenders and amendments, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Keep the asset sheet and FIDGI system updated.
- Process COFOR requests and exemption approvals as needed.
Ergonomics & Compliance:
- Ensure all processes align with ergonomic best practices for worker safety and efficiency.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize plant operations and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably within chassis or battery tray production.
- In-depth knowledge of process and plant operations.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control.
- Experience with project management, risk assessment (FMEA), and technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automotive or EV manufacturing.
- Proficiency in engineering software tools for design and process tracking.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
