Vehicle Performance Manager - Barcelona
Job Description
We are looking for a passionate Vehicle Performance Manager to join our team in Barcelona for one of our VAG group clients, ensuring that next-generation vehicles deliver the dynamic, safe, and refined driving experience. You will be the key link between component teams and the final product, validating that all systems work together perfectly.
Your Mission:
Your mission is to be the guardian of the complete vehicle's character. You will plan & manage the tests to prove the car performs as one integrated system, not just a sum of its parts.
Key Responsibilities:
Holistic Vehicle Testing: Plan & Manage validation plans for overall vehicle attributes including:
- Driving Dynamics (handling, ride comfort, steering feel)
- Braking Performance (brake feel, stopping distance, ABS integration)
- NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness)
- Thermal Management (under all climate conditions)
- Energy Efficiency and range validation.
- Safety Systems (integration of ADAS, airbags, stability control)
System Integration Validation: Focus on how systems interact.
- Test the interplay between powertrain, chassis, electronics, and software.
- Identify and manage issues that only appear at the full-vehicle level.
- Ensure seamless functionality from the driver's perspective.
Test Planning & Execution:
- Plan and manage detailed test procedures for prototype vehicles.
- Manage testing schedules at proving grounds, on public roads, and in environmental chambers.
- Utilize data acquisition systems to gather and analyze vehicle data.
Sign-Off & Quality Assurance:
- Be a key voice in the engineering sign-off process for vehicle-level functions.
- Ensure all vehicle performance targets are met before start-of-production.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in project management and managing complex automotive projects
- Proven experience in automotive validation, specifically at the full-vehicle level.
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, powertrain systems, and electronic control units (ECUs).
- Hands-on experience with data acquisition and analysis tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous, analytical approach.
- A passion for cars and a keen sense for what makes a great driving experience.
- Fluency in English; Spanish is a strong plus.
- Willingness to relocate to Barcelona, Spain for 2 years.
