PMC - Quantity Surveyor (Construction)-Basra, IRAQ
Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented PMC Quantity Surveyor (Construction) to manage cost estimation, budgeting, and contract administration for a high-profile Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Basra, Iraq. The Quantity Surveyor will ensure that all project costs are monitored, controlled, and aligned with the approved budgets while maintaining compliance with project specifications and contractual agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor project costs and expenditures, providing regular updates to project management on budget status and variances.
- Administer and evaluate contracts to ensure compliance with project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Manage and process contractor claims, change orders, and variations, ensuring alignment with project agreements.
- Conduct cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve project efficiency.
- Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and construction teams to validate cost estimates and track material quantities.
- Prepare progress valuations and support the preparation of interim and final payment certificates for contractors.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all cost-related activities, including records of changes, claims, and disputes.
- Participate in project progress meetings and provide input on cost and contractual matters.
- Ensure compliance with local laws, project standards, and best practices in all quantity surveying activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 8-12 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on Oil & Gas or pipeline construction projects.
- Proven experience in a PMC environment and working in Iraq or similar regions is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, cost management, and contract administration.
- Proficiency in cost estimating tools, MS Excel, and project management software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities for dealing with contractors and stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic project environment.
