Project Engineer - Mechanical and Civil Systems
Job Description
Working within the Equipment Contracts Team, this service will support the delivery of nuclear power plant Emergency and Ultimate Diesel Generators (EDG/UDG) to the client, from external suppliers, through the following activities:
• Supporting the development and initiation of a complex, high-value, turn-key contract package, including the following:
• Applying experience in Mechanical / Structural / Civil Engineering design and construction to assess design proposals and manage interfaces between systems and building designs.
• Support development of Invitation-To-Tender (ITT) technical documents and Tender evaluation activities.
• Organising and managing supplier interactions to clarify technical details, including detailed records keeping.
• Managing technical configuration details, including updates to technical specification and associated technical delivery documents.
• Performing technical investigations and impact analyses for design options/changes, working with stakeholders to manage and document the process, inputs and outcomes.
• Support/manage contract kick-off activities including creation of technical briefing packs and workshops, coordinating inputs from technical specialists as necessary.
• Support/manage contract execution activities, including surveillance and approval of contractor deliverables and design activities.
• Resolution activities for multi-disciplinary technical issues and queries, including input to/ownership of resolving technical Open Points (OP), interface queries and Design Changes (UKDC).
• Liaise with other RD and client teams to ensure integration of equipment with interfacing functions, systems and structures.
Qualifications
- Understanding of Emergency Diesel Generators or similar multi-disciplinary nuclear power plant equipment.
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Science discipline
- Understanding of nuclear design processes and safety standards, including seismic qualification.
- Capable of producing technical specifications
- Sound understanding of nuclear equipment regulations such as RCC-E.
- Experience on the design of nuclear safety classified equipment with a preference for mechanical, structural and/or civil engineering.
- Experience of equipment supply contracts and contract forms such as NEC/FIDIC.
- Experience of supplier management/oversight
- French-speaking would be an advantage
