Vehicle Passive Safety Manager - Barcelona
Job Description
We are seeking a Vehicle Passive Safety Manager to join our team in Barcelona for one of our VAG Group clients, to lead the development, validation, and integration of passive safety systems, ensuring vehicle compliance with global crash regulations and NCAP requirements. This role involves managing a team of engineers, coordinating cross-functional safety initiatives, and driving technical excellence in occupant and pedestrian protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Passive Safety Engineering team.
- Define strategy, roadmaps, and technical targets for passive safety performance.
- Oversee crash simulations (CAE/FEA) and physical crash testing to validate occupant and pedestrian protection.
- Ensure compliance with international regulations and consumer testing requirements (ECE R, FMVSS, Euro NCAP, US NCAP, C-NCAP, Latin NCAP, etc.).
- Coordinate development and integration of passive safety components (airbags, seatbelts, seats, structural reinforcements).
- Act as the main technical contact for internal stakeholders, suppliers, and certification authorities regarding passive safety.
- Review and approve technical documentation, test reports, and homologation files.
- Drive innovation in passive safety solutions, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with company product strategy.
- Mentor, coach, and develop the engineering team to strengthen technical expertise and leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 6–9+ years of experience in vehicle safety engineering, with strong background in passive safety.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams or projects.
- In-depth knowledge of crash regulations, consumer tests, and homologation processes.
- Hands-on experience with crash simulation tools (LS-DYNA, PAM-CRASH, Abaqus) and test data correlation.
- Strong understanding of restraint systems and vehicle crash structures.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); Spanish language are a plus.
- Willingness to relocate to Barcelona, Spain for 2 years
