Job Description

As the Mechanical Engineer – Vehicle Integration, Exhaust Systems, you will be design structural components (casts) as well as bracketry and pipes for the exhaust system. Maintaining our brand reputation is crucial, and this position serves that mission by assuring compliance with all applicable vehicles.

You will be responsible for:

Designing structural components (castings, bracketry) for muffler mounting.
Designing exhaust pipes and mounting systems.
Ensuring new designs fulfill business targets, requirements and Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Feature targets.
Front-loading work to ensure robust early-stage releases and stable late-stage releases.
Releasing components as applicable to resolve maintenance issues or secure project deliveries.
Developing modular systems and components to optimize part diversity.
Ensuring component durability by requesting analysis and/or physical verification.
Integrating deliveries from others and secure quality readiness before release.
Communicating active project deliveries during team meetings.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; master’s degree preferred.
3-5+ years of product development experience, preferably in class 8 heavy duty truck development.
Familiar with engineering quality assurance related tools (Failure Mode Effects. Analysis, Design for Assembly, Design for Aftermarket, etc.)
Familiar with CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools for FEA (structural). and/or multi-body vehicle dynamic simulation.
Experience with CAD (PTC Creo preferred).
The ability to work in cross-functional teams to communicate and agree on the designs for assembly, cost, sourcing, and aftermarket servicing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

My role at Segula Technologies:

I’m a study coordinator for Household Appliance and R&I (Research & Innovation) projects.

I interact with customers a lot, and work with them directly. I’m constantly on the lookout for ideas and innovations. In particular, I work on developing Groupe SEB products across all of their product sectors.

Professional experience:

I’ve been working at Activetech since the beginning of my career, so since 2005.

Training:

I started with a vocational baccalaureate in Material Tooling and Forming, then a BTS advanced technician’s certificate in Plastic Injection Tooling Design and Production, and finally, I took a Project Management course at ISMO (Institut Supérieur du Moule d’Alençon).

My biggest project:

I’ve worked on a lot of very interesting projects – unfortunately, however, most of them are confidential so I can’t talk about as many as I would like. But one project that was key for me was the development of the Rowenta 360 upright vacuum cleaner.

It took a lot of research and development in terms of its kinematics and mechanisms.

I was closely involved in these developments and it’s nice to see the product being advertised on TV at the moment.

My greatest passion:

Spending time with my family, travelling, cooking, motor racing, and keeping up with the latest football news.

My biggest dream:

I was lucky enough to achieve my biggest dream of visiting Japan. Now I’m planning to go to Brazil one day.
