Test & Commissioning Engineer / Technician - Railway - Germany

Job Description

We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Test & Commissioning (T&C) Engineer / Technician to join our team in Germany. In this role, you will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and validating electrical and functional systems of railway subsystems. Your expertise will contribute directly to ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of our products. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct cabling, sub-system, and train functional, performance, and safety tests. 

  • Interpret electrical schematics and wire lists accurately. 

  • Operate and utilize diagnostic tools, testing software, and programming interfaces (software loading). 

  • Use measurement instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators. 

  • Identify, trace, and repair electrical faults with rigor and precision. 

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable norms, safety regulations, and internal standards. 

  • Record inspection results accurately and generate test reports. 

  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to resolve issues and implement improvements. 

  • Work flexibly across shifts, adapting to changing conditions and environments. 

  • Uphold safety protocols, including PPE usage and EHS standards. 

Qualifications

General Requirements: 

  • Presence on site required. 

  • Ability to work in shifts. 

  • Valid work permit and VISA (if applicable).

Language:

  • German (preferred) and English. 

Education: 

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Industrial IT Engineering, or Railway fields. 

  • Certifications in Electrical Safety and First Aid are a plus. 

Experience: 

  • From RS (Railway Systems): Minimum 2 years of experience. 

  • From other sectors: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. 

Technical Skills: 

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and schematics. 

  • Proficiency with testing tools and diagnostic equipment. 

  • Experience in software tools for testing and system diagnostics. 

  • Sound knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and procedures relevant to railway systems. 

  • Methodical troubleshooting and repair skills, with a proven ability to diagnose complex electrical and mechanical faults. 

  • Experience with testing and commissioning of railway-specific systems (e.g., safety systems, TCMS, pantographs) is highly advantageous. 

Soft & Personal Skills: 

  • Attention to detail and strong inspection capabilities, ensuring thorough and accurate testing. 

  • Problem-solving mindset with a drive for improvement, actively seeking solutions and contributing to process optimization. 

  • Ability to work well in a team environment, supporting a collaborative culture and effectively communicating with colleagues. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration. 

  • Adaptability to new testing methods and unexpected challenges, demonstrating flexibility and resilience. 

  • High level of dependability and consistent task performance, ensuring reliable execution of responsibilities. 

  • Integrity and ethical conduct in reporting and technical judgment, maintaining accuracy and transparency. 

  • Strong commitment to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) practices, adhering to all safety guidelines and promoting a safe working environment. 

  • Generate comprehensive and accurate test reports, documenting findings and ensuring traceability.
