PMC - Crossing Supervisor-Basra, IRAQ

Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced PMC Crossing Supervisor to oversee all crossing construction activities, including road, rail, river, and utility crossings, for a high-profile Oil & Gas pipeline construction project in Basra, Iraq. The Crossing Supervisor will ensure that all crossing works comply with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all crossing construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Oversee the execution of horizontal directional drilling (HDD), open-cut, and other crossing techniques as per the project’s requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental standards during crossing activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that construction methods and materials meet approved designs and specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and optimize construction processes.
  • Review and approve construction drawings, method statements, and work plans for crossings.
  • Ensure proper handling, installation, and protection of utilities and pipeline infrastructure during crossing works.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, including updates on crossing activities, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Promote adherence to HSE policies and foster a safety-first culture across crossing construction teams.
  • Train and mentor junior staff to enhance their technical expertise and ensure effective team performance.

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 8-12 years of experience in supervising crossing construction activities, with a focus on Oil & Gas or pipeline projects.
    • Proven experience in a PMC environment is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of crossing construction techniques, such as HDD, auger boring, and open-cut methods.
    • Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and method statements.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills for effective coordination with contractors and stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a challenging environment.
